Painting Treasures of St Lucia St Lucia, West Indies
Join us in the Caribbean for a Painter's winter get-away on the island of St Lucia!!! Great for non-painters as well!
Limited space...enroll early!!! Ensure your participation!
Study with our instructor and capture the adventures of plein air painting colorful landscapes in the beautiful and picturesque island of St Lucia in the West Indies. Discover how painting from life helps us to see and observe the affects of light and atmosphere. Learn how to simplify your subject while painting more quickly and accurately, with special attention placed on learning to see masses, as opposed to line, and form, rather than detail.
The entire painting process will be covered along with daily demonstrations in oil. Instructor will work individually with each student at their easel and guide them at their own level. This workshop is for anyone interested in learning to develop creative, painterly paintings with clean, rich color, mood, and dynamic compositions. There will be group critiques at the end of each day.
Experience the thrill and beauty of a wonderful part of St. Lucia, and even more so, taking these memories you've created home with you! This workshop is for beginners to advanced artists and will be conducted outdoors on location.
Workshop is open to painters of all levels. Artists are free to use any medium (graphite, watercolor, oil, Acrylic or pastel) though the instructor will demo in oil. Whether you are a novice just learning to mix color, or a professional needing advanced problem solving, individualized instruction will address needs at your level and push you to the next step in your personal development. We will stay at the historic Balenbouche Estate, an old plantation nestled on the southcoast of St. Lucia.

About St Lucia... St. Lucia is a natural paradise offering wonderful scenery along with characteristic Caribbean cultural flavour. The small island of St. Lucia resembles the islands of the South Pacific.St Lucia has a great variety of plant and animal life. Orchids and exotic plants grow wild in the rainforest while roadsides are covered with many tropical flowers. Colourful tropical birds abound, including endangered species like the indigenous St Lucia parrots well as hummingbirds and the St. Lucia Oriole.
The twin Pitons are the island's majestic and distinctive ancient volcanic mountain landmarks. Steep coastlines, beaches of various shades of sands, fishing villages, antique plantation houses and remnants of long-forgotten sugar mills and the rainforest preserves of St. Lucia's mountainous interior offer one of the Caribbean's finest locales for painting in a moderate year-round climate. Areas of particular interest and planned paint-out days include Viex Fort, Choiseul & Laborie in the south, and Soufriere and the Pitons on the west coast.
